Back in 1926 The Substation (TS) served the primary purpose of that which its name suggests. It then reinvented itself as one of Singapore’s pioneer art spaces on 16th September 1990.

TS celebrates its 24th anniversary as a long-time contributor to, and platform for exhibitions and performances in Singapore (featuring both local and international artists) with its annual month-long event, Septfest 2014. Besides commemorating the growth of art and culture in our humble nation-city, this year’s exhibition includes a fundraiser where proceeds will go into renovation and building repairs for the gallery.

With Part One having concluded on 13th September 2014, we’re looking forward to Part Two, which runs from 18th September 2014 to 27th September 2014. Artworks featured at the exhibition for the fundraiser will be up for auction at the end of the exhibition periods, where interested buyers can bid for their favourite pieces. Click herefor some of our favourite pieces.

On top of exploring the gallery’s exhibitions, visitors may also participate in TS’s very first Crowdfunding campaign, where you may get your hands on some special souvenirs for your generosity if you contribute to its restoration and repairs fund.

Alternatively, if you are unable to attend the exhibition you may check out the art pieces over at www.substation.org/septfest. For more information on how you may be able to obtain the art pieces or pertaining to The Substation, visit www.substation.org.
